What is TED?

TED is an annual event where the world’s leading thinkers and doers are invited to share their passions. “TED” stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design – three broad subject areas that are shaping our future.

TEDx?

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organised events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. These local, self-organised events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organised TED event.

TEDxBerkeley?

Started in 2010 and hosted on the UC Berkeley campus, TEDxBerkeley is one of the largest TEDx events in the world, featuring over 1200 attendees every year. TEDxBerkeley is organized by members of the Regents’ and Chancellor’s Scholars Association, the recipients of the highest university honor awarded to undergraduate students.

How are attendees selected?

Anyone can register for TEDxBerkeley with the purchase of a ticket. Tickets are available on Eventbrite. Be on the lookout for promotional codes on our Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/TEDxBerkeley) and Twitter (https://twitter.com/tedxberkeley) pages!

Can I volunteer for TEDxBerkeley?

Short answer, no. We have filled all of our volunteer positions at this time. However, if you are a photographer or videographer interested in providing your services, please contact us at info@tedxberkeley.org with your portfolio or website.

How do I nominate a speaker?

How long does it take for nominations to be processed?

Due to the high volume of qualified nominees we receive, review by the curating team can take anywhere from two weeks up to two months.

If I am a TEDx Organizer, can I get a special discount?

Yes, TEDx Organizers are eligible for up to 3 tickets at a 50% discount. University Organizers are eligible for up to 5 tickets at the student price. Email info@tedxberkeley.org for details.

I’m a Student from another school. Can I get a discount?

Yes, limited student tickets are available, email registration@tedxberkeley.org for more information.
