Brenda Chapman started her career as a story artist at Walt Disney Feature Animation where she worked on films such The Little Mermaid, The Rescuers Down Under, Beauty and the Beast, The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Fantasia/2000. Chapman was the story supervisor on The Lion King, for which she won the Annie Award.
Chapman then helped launch DreamWorks Animation Studios, where she directed the 1998 release of Prince of Egypt. She joined Pixar Animation Studios in September 2003 where she created, wrote and directed the Oscar, BAFTA and Golden Globe winning Brave.
Chapman is currently developing projects for DreamWorks Animation, as well as working on several personal projects.
Chapman resides in the Bay Area with her husband and their daughter.
