Lopa Brunjes is a biochar pioneer, passionate sustainability advocate, and visionary businesswoman. Lopa currently serves as Executive VP of Biochar Engineering

Lopa serves on the advisory board of the International Biochar Initiative and is on the board of Samavesha, a non-profit art collective. She is also a loud and proud member of Slow Money. Lopa has great passion to help people turn their dreams into viable businesses, as well as support both integrity-driven small businesses and large corporations to reach their maximum potential. She has worked with all levels of stakeholders_from international, national, and state-level lobbying; to building relationships with multi-lateral development banks; to organizing local communities around a shared cause.Corp, a small Colorado company defining the leading edge of the burgeoning biochar industry. In addition, Lopa is a Senior Advisor to Richard BransonÍs Carbon War Room, whose Biochar Operation she launched in 2010, where she manages a comprehensive strategy to removing market barriers to scaling biochar, via market development, attracting capital, and stakeholder engagement.

LopaÍs professional and personal accomplishments are as varied and broad as her interests and skills. Her past professional roles include work in insurance, futures and options, interment, social work with the developmentally disabled, and care-taking a wildlife refuge in Costa Rica, as well as travel to Asia, Europe, and South America.

Lopa has been an avid yoga practitioner for 9 years, and is a proud member of a community that founded a beautiful meditation and yoga retreat center in the mountains of north central Thailand, where she retreats as often as she can.
