What is TED?

TED is an annual event where the world’s leading thinkers and doers are invited to share their passions. “TED” stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design – three broad subject areas that are shaping our future.

What is TEDx?

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organised events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. These local, self-organised events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organised TED event.

What is TEDxBerkeley?

Started in 2010 and hosted on the UC Berkeley campus, TEDxBerkeley is one of the largest TEDx events in the world, featuring over 1800 annual attendees.

Do TEDx organizers qualify for discounts?

Yes, TEDx Organizers are eligible for up to 3 tickets at a 50% discount. University Organizers are eligible for up to 5 tickets at the student price. Email info@tedxberkeley.org for details.

Do students from other schools qualify for discounts?

If you are a UC Berkeley student, choose the "UCB Student" ticket option on Eventbrite. If you are a student from another school please select "Non UCB Student Ticket" option. Don't forget to bring your current school ID at the door!

How are attendees selected?

Anyone can register for TEDxBerkeley with the purchase of a ticket. Tickets are available on Eventbrite. Be on the lookout for promotional codes on our Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/TEDxBerkeley) and Twitter (https://twitter.com/tedxberkeley) pages!

Can I volunteer for TEDxBerkeley?

At this time, only UC Berkeley students will be considered; please apply here: External TEDxBerkeley 2018 Volunteer Application. Applications are due Friday, January 26 at 11:59 p.m. No late applications will be accepted. If you are a photographer or videographer interested in providing your services, please contact us at info@tedxberkeley.org with your portfolio or website.

How do I nominate a speaker?

How long does it take to process nominations?

Due to the high volume of qualified nominees we receive, review by the curating team can take anywhere from two weeks up to two months.
